The Bulkeley High School community believes that all students can become responsible, independent individuals posessing the academic, social, and civic competencies for the 21st century. We value high academic standards, individualized learning experiences and specialized programs of study that meet the needs of a diverse student population.
I’m Raejon Gaines, a junior at Bulkeley High School.I am taking a drawing class and our first studio project was to create a name design. My design was based on representing ideas, hobbies and personal goals that I have. The pictures of basketballs and sports logos in my work show how much I love the game of basketball. I am currently on the varsity basket ball team here at school and am looking forward to the beginning of the new season. In my artwork, the NBA jersey shows that my future goal is to become a professional basketball player.Another goal of mine that I represented in my design was my dream of winning this year’s high school championship ring.I am proud of the way that my artwork turned out because it represents who I am and what I aspire to be.

BHS is very proud of Melinda!
Melinda has been participating on the
student leadership team at the CT Youth Forum. As she attests, she has
grown considerably through all her Forum experiences. As we begin this
school year and another year of collaboration with the Forum, it is
touching and motivating that they chose to highlight one of our own.
Check out the article below!
Melinda is a senior
this year. She attends Bulkeley High School and has participated in the
YOUTH Forum for three years now. One of her favorite YF events was last
year's Student Exchange Event, "We Are One."
"YOUTH Forum has
enlightened me in so many ways in life. I can walk into so many
different scenarios and I am now a great public speaker. I have gained
so many positive relationships from the YF. The YF has become a family
to me. I would definitely recommend every student checking out the YF!"
After graduation this
year, Melinda's plan is to attend Mt. Ida in Massachusetts. She hopes to
major in Mortuary Science and become a funeral director.
